Take me Back

Take me back to September,
When I made one special wish.

All I wanted was a chance,
Took an August blow, not a kiss.

Five months later,
You are still on my list.

I made you my priority,
But I know that’s amiss.

Take me back to October,
I was adjusting to things.

All I wanted was you,
Not those other flings.

No matter how much I wanted you,
We didn’t want the same things.

My vision became focused,
I hopped aboard the next train.

Take me back to November,
Talk about a hard choice to make.

I was determined we were forever,
I wasn’t your cup, you weren’t my drink.

Feeling lost, feeling hopeful,
Sought a therapist for advice.

But you revealed to me your intentions,
Didn’t want to be my wife.

Take me back to December,
Time wanted me to less invest.

Instead of wanting you,
I felt cheated like on a test.

There couldn’t be new beginnings,
The universe opened up my eyes.

The less I invest in you,
I finally got back my time.

Take me back to the New Year,
Finally ready to let you go.

No more waiting for you to be ready,
This I knew, I know.

I made up my mind,
I knew I wasn’t wasting mine.

I was ready for new things,
New people to invest my time.
