For My Son

I want to give you everything,

Everything, I never had.

I want to give you something,

Something, I wish I could have.

I want to be your hero,

You’re shining star, illuminating the sky.

I want you to know one thing,

You’re my favorite person alive.

I want us to play kickball,

Running in the yard having fun,

I want us to play baseball,

Grab a mitt, throw the ball and I’ll run.

I want to play hide and seek,

You go hide, I’ll count to ten.

I know where you’re hiding,

I’ll find you and we’ll do it again.

I love everything about you,

From your laugh to your smile,

One thing is for certain

I’ll be around for a while.

I’ll always be around,

Whenever you need me to,

You’ll never have to question this–

Daddy..loves..you.

You’re the greatest gift I’ve ever gotten,

And you’re only one,

We have so much more to look forward to

Baby boy you are so young.

Think of all the places in the world, that we haven’t been,

Tell me all the things you want, I’ll be sure to get you them.

I don’t make promises but I honor what I make,

Anything I do for you is never by mistake.

I’ll go to the ends of the earth to keep that smile on your face,

I won’t settle for less, but for you I’ll always chase.
