Astronomy: The Moon | Waxing Gibbous

February 22, 2021

The moon finally made its appearance after hiding due to recent arctic weather events here in the mid-South.

Visible in the sky during the day, we patiently awaited its debut to illuminate the night sky.

Around 11p.m. EST, I captured–using the SOLOMARK 70mm Telescope–the moon.

The moon phase was in its Waxing Gibbous phase, where 75% light illuminates. This phase lasts about 7 days, illuminating more until it prepares to rise as a Full Moon.

In Louisville, Kentucky, we had clear skies and easy-to-see stars that illuminated the midnight sky.
