My daughter is talented. She’s witty, inquisitive, and ultra competitive. Today after school, despite a rainy start to our Wednesday, the sun shined, allowing us to get outside and get active. I asked my daughter which sport did she prefer to play, usually soccer, and she chose baseball. My daughter chose to throw a ball instead of kick a ball.
Athletic since birth, my daughter mastered the entire pitcher’s stance in just one lesson–ever. She pitches as if she’s played in a league.
I love being able to work 1-on-1 with my daughter. As a Dad Coach, our combined interest in a competitive sport creates this unique bond that I adore. Trinity is determined to succeed–that if unsuccessful–hurts her spirit; which is why we practice frequently. We’re all human and we all like to win or do our best. When we fail, it allows us to acknowledge what we may have done wrong so we can correct it the next time.
Today, we focused on a few catching and pitching techniques. The first time my daughter pitched a ball to me, it was almost perfect. In just several seconds, she watched how my body was in preparation to throw a ball. Within minutes and a few throws later, she mastered a complicated task; pitching with accuracy.
When my daughter got into her pitching position, her stance was so perfect, you could tell she was determined to master yet another activity assisted by Daddy. I was so proud of her skill, her desire to succeed and the way she threw a sinker.
Enjoy the video I filmed above.
Who doesn’t adore fatherhood? There’s nothing to it, but to do it.
