Thunder Over Louisville was awesome!

This year, Thunder reopened to the public since the pandemic began. In Louisville, Thunder is the pre-show introducing the Kentucky Derby.
This year, I took my two kids with me. We arrived after the air show, where various model aircraft perform through the skies over the Ohio River. Luckily, there were still several aircraft making their appearances. One of my favorites was the Stealth Jet; the engine’s so loud, you know he’s coming hot and heavy! The Stealth has been a childhood favorite of mine to see before my eyes.
I love making my childhood memories recreated through the lens of my kid’s eyes. They get to be apart of the same tradition I grew up around, and that makes me so excited!
Overall, my children and I had a great time. We played with strangers who allowed us to use their soccer ball since I didn’t think we would have the space to play to bring one. Desperate for something to do to pass the time, my daughter picked up a rock and we threw it back and forth to each other. The dad across from us knew I needed help. For half an hour, my daughter and I played some 1v1 soccer, while my son occupied his time playing in the wagon.
I borrowed the wagon from my mother and boy was it a success. Not only did it allow me to transport my kids and a chair, it saved my children the hassle of walking a mile down to the river and back. The wagon attracted a lot of attention for my son. Some of the kids that were around us decided to come up to him and pull him in the wagon without him asking. He loved that! A boy of extremely few words but people know his love language–quality time (That’s one of mine too!).
The night ended with an amazing drone show after sunset. The Drone show was unique and a first for Thunder over Louisville. After the Drone show came what we all waited all night for — the fireworks. My children were tired and worn out, but they still had enough energy to watch the amazing fireworks display.
