I became a Dasher in late 2021. Within a few weeks I started understanding how the process of Dashing really worked if I wanted this side hustle to become my full time hustle.
When I was committed to understanding all of the factors involved in being a doordasher, I was able to reach a quota I set for myself everyday without lacking.
Basically, I would work 5 days a week, 4 hours a day and make $100. Obviously whatever I make is what I live off of (I.e., Gas, necessities, bills, food, etc). This is not a job that takes out taxes, fyi. When I realized I could probably make more I still worked 5 days a week but increased my hours in the day.
When I logged on the Dasher App at my scheduled 9:00 a.m. start time, I wasn’t expecting any promos or promotions to be active. Because I take my kids to school in the morning, I missed the earlier promo, however, it was still active from 9:00-11:29 a.m. The promo today was a $3 incentive per order. This meant it was time to grind!

In the photo above, it lists Peak Pay where Dashers earn whatever the wage DoorDash sets each delivery. The incentive for me was an additional $3. This is the equivalent of a corporate employee receiving a raise.

Let’s look at this order from DashMart above for $11.75. Even though a promotion is active, and the dollar amount looks high, you still have to be smart about what you accept. DoorDash pays a minimum base of $2.25 per order you receive on your phone. Base + peak pay + tip = total pay. The milage was less than the pay so I likely would have accepted this even if it was $8.75 for 3.9 miles.

This was the total pay from the DashMart delivery. DoorDash must have had a promotion running because I thought the pay was half Doordash and half the customer, but there was no tip. Whatever –the payout was high and the distance was close. That’s a win.

Once the order is delivered and you confirm drop off, get ready to hop in your whip and dip. Time is money. Money is time. Drive safe!
All in all, today was a good day. I dashed from 09:00-12:00pm, completed 8 deliveries, making $105 for the day in 3 hours. Normally it takes 4-5 hours to make $100 as of lately. I just wish it was what I remember when I first started. I’m not complaining, just questioning.
Happy Dashing!
