Single Dad Life With Two Sick Kids

Here we are, nearing the end of the November month. We gather together as a family to celebrate Thanksgiving, only to endure sickness as the strep throat virus circulated.

In a prior post, I discussed how I enjoyed my Thanksgiving, however, I did not get the luxury of seeing my children on this thankful holiday.

Dealing with two children on the daily is a task I would not say is complicated by any means. Sure one of my children struggles with speech, while the other is epileptic. I’m always on my toes.

This Thanksgiving holiday season, my children enjoyed a longer than usual break from school. We made a few trips to the doctor’s office to tackle the sickness my children were experiencing.

I think a lot of parents get overwhelmed easily when their children are sick. I embrace that my child is sick and make it my mission to ensure they are healthy again. What do I do you might ask?

I insure my children are eating more fruits and vegetables than ever. I make sure they are staying hydrated. I make sure they take their vitamins as necessary. I offer popsicles to soothe the throat or lozenge if they tolerate the numerous flavors. I also make sure they get their antibiotics in to treat the strep throat they tested positive for.

The only scary part is wondering if they are being taken care of and taking their medicine as appropriate when they are away from me. That’s the unfortunate part about Co-parenting. I’m also not like most fathers. I wonder day in and day out how my children are doing when they are away from me. I am overly concerned about their well-being even in my embrace.

Nonetheless, this dad’s got this.
