Today was one of those days where I did not reach my quota for multiple reasons. One, my children were sick so they had to stay home from school. Two, my mom had to take the dog to the vet so I had to watch my younger siblings. Lastly, orders that I receive on the DoorDash platform are just absurd at this point for the lack of a better word.
Today, I happened to see and order that seemed worthy of accepting before running errands. Trying to make the most of my time I accepted the order and arrived at the restaurant 8 minutes later. Little Caesars Pizza was the destination I had to go to. Upon arrival, several people were inside of the restaurant with only two staff members present. More staff arrived, however they were children and rather laughed and plain view, as opposed to serving the people in the drive-through, and the people who walked in the store.
The frustration came about when I waited inside of the store for 12 minutes. For 12 minutes I saw half of my order ready and the rest on accounted for. I really wanted to accept this order and I knew that I couldn’t because of errands I had to run soon after. I allowed myself five more minutes as I owe that to the customer I was picking the order up from. Sadly I had to walk away from this catering order. According to DoorDash it’s a catering order if it has a certain amount of items in one order.
This order had a total of 13 items. Seven pizzas and six servings of wings. I saw the pizzas however the wings were not ready. The most frustrating part is not being able to fulfill the entire order. I didn’t stay so I didn’t commit. I didn’t commit, so the customer had to wait longer than anticipated.
Garbage like this is very detrimental for people who are in gig employment opportunities such as myself. Not being able to complete that order resulted in a loss of $13 or possibly more. I’m sick and tired of being a doordash driver. I’m sick and tired of driving my car as it accumulates depreciation by the day. I’m sick and tired of not being compensated for my time, gas, or efforts.
All I simply want it to do was pick up the order, deliver the order, receive compensation for time and effort, and pick up the next delivery. There was nothing more to this post other than the frustrations I feel as a DoorDash driver and sadly my emotions will go unaccounted for.
