Are you a dasher? Are you a doordash contractor? If the answer is yes and you frequently dash, I have a question for you. How often do you experience GPS method changes when making a delivery?
Look at the image below. There are 3 mapping service options:
- Google Maps In App Navigation
- Google Maps
- Waze
This is located under Account–>Settings–>Mapping Service in the settings of the Dasher app. Where “Google Maps In App Navigation” is checked is how it used to display.

Look at the next photo in Dark-Mode and observe the difference of what is checked. Notice there are only 2 options.

This version of Google Maps uses the separate Google map app, which complicates the ease of use on the Dasher App. In essence this makes driving less safe as I have to switch back to the Dasher app in order to see any updates, messages from customer, address, etc., as opposed to it all being in-one.
The only remedy to this particular issue is to basically uninstall and reinstall the app. This happens daily and randomly.
The less evasive option is to Clear Data from the Dasher App, which resets all settings and login. Clearing cache isn’t enough to fix this.
So if you are a Dasher and you use the Dasher app as an independent contractor with DoorDash and are you experiencing the same glitch, please comment below and report the technical issue. I want DoorDash to know this is not safe practice, as it takes eyes off the road longer than they should.
